ADVENTURES IN TEXTURE #4

This piece by Canadian artist, Steve Tracy gives a wonderful example of texture achieved by layering. You can see the thick application of paint by palette knife. Tracy uses a dragging motion to move the paint and carves lines with the edge of the palette knife. It appears that Tracy let the paint dry in some cases between applications so that colors wouldn't mix, but rather build layer upon layer.
